INFJs share the dominant Ni function with INTJs, giving them access to the same deep pattern-recognition capabilities. Their Ni allows them to synthesize complex information into coherent insights, which translates to strong performance on IQ subtests involving abstract reasoning and pattern detection.
However, where INTJs pair Ni with Te (logical execution), INFJs pair it with extraverted Feeling (Fe). This means INFJs may channel their cognitive abilities toward understanding people and systems of meaning rather than pure logical-mathematical domains. Their IQ scores tend to be somewhat lower than INTJs on average, not because of less raw intelligence, but because conventional IQ tests emphasize logical-mathematical reasoning over the social-relational intelligence where INFJs often excel.
